Chile ~week 22

The sun exists in good ol Cañete

So these past few days have been pretty sunny, which is awesome! but then cloudy, then sunny again! so its been great!
Well heres my week!

Monday: i got my haircut, thats what the picture is... it was pday like normal, we talked with our branch president, and we reset a baptismal date which fell again cause he doesnt come to church...

Tuesday: We had district meeting. afterwards we had a grand intercambio, i was with elder montoya again! so that was pretty cool. at night we walked into a store, and it was owned by colombians, so i talked with them a bit... their accent is super cool, and super nice. but i dont remember it from my time in the MTC... our investigator Sofia told us she wants to be baptized! so thats sweet!! they told us they want to go to the temple and get sealed! so theyre golden!

Wednesday: we ended the intercambio, we had puré for lunch. which is basically mashed potatoes, it was hard to eat, when ieat im a texture kind of person, and lots of mashed potatoes gets to me... we went to quidico again, ill send pics of that in another email...we talked a bit there, had a good lesson, and then the members drove us home.. and we got home and a yoghurt i had in there exploded.. so that was lame..

Thursday: i gave my very first blessing, like the second part, i was kind of scared, idk why, but i did good. there was a member of our branch serving her mission and she came home from buenos Aires North mission! so we were with them when they celebrated a bit! and then i have more pics from this day, late at night before we went to bed, we found a slug on our wall. so thats what that is, its kinda gross.. well bienvenidos a chile!

Friday: one of our good families dads returned, and he wants to be baptized, so we setup a pre interview with him sunday. he was in the hospital cause he had an accident with his nervous system, so hes trying to get better still, so he talks a little slow, but hes super cool!

Saturday: i was studying in the morning about ammon and aaron, and their missionary work, so that was super cool. we had another small earthquake! we were in a house on stilts, so we felt it shake a lot, but idk if it was as big as the last one, but it was still pretty cool... and then in the night my comp bought me pizza again. and i accidently ordered corn on it... so thats what the picture is...

Sunday: we had church as normal sunday. we had a small intercambio for a few hours to do the pre interview with fidel. and he passed, he will be getting baptized the 10th!! so we are super excited!! it was a good day and that made up really happy...

Today: this morning we went and played soccer with the missionaries from Los alamos, and one of the companionsips from lebu. we also played with a less active and his friend. my soccer skills are coming back! im proud!! then we ate, i had fries. they have alot of fries here, and their good. now im writing, so thats my day...

Chile ~week 21

So this week was good, were staring spring so its gonna be raining a lot more, but it only rains for like 10 mins, then sun for 10 mins, then rian, then sun.... for the whole day, so its kinda annoying!
but i have an update, one of the rules that got changed is not we dont have a time limit to email, so i can do bigger more specific emails to everyone!

Well heres my week!

Monday: was pday of course, my comp was sick still, but we still managed to work, then we had another family home evening and watched meet the mormons again!

Tuesday: We had district meeting, and played the card game mafia. we bought food cause my comp was sick on pday, and we helped some of our best investigators change their point of viewn and understand the age of baptism, the age of accountability. so that was good, we should have a baptism here in the next couple of weeks, if i dont get transferred, im praying i dont! theres so many people here i love!

Wednesday: We were studying the language in the morning, my comp was telling me words and i had ot tell him the word in english, and he accidently said ball pent poin, instead of ball point pen, it was so funny, we were laughing forever, i dont even know why it was so funnny. we made hamburgers(pic attatched) becaue my comp was sick and couldnt eat any more chilean food. but i guess hamburgers werent good for him either, because a little while later he threw it all up, and the worst part was that he missed the toilet. which was gross, he asked me to help him clean it up but i couldnt thats disgusting, and i almost threw up from seeing it and smelling it.. it was nasty...

Thursday: i woke up in the morning, and i had a little itch on my back, so i itched it and felt something, i looked at what it was, there was a SPIDER on my back! it was a little one so it wasnt so bad, and i dont think i got bit which is good. theres a type of spider here that bites you and you die, so thats not good... we had weekly planning, then this day was when the spring started, the rain... sun... rain... sun... etc... then i did an intercambio with Elder Sterri. hes from the U.S. but it was a hard intercambio, because hes newer than i am! so he didnt know like any spanish, so i had to do most of the talking! but we still managed and had a good day!

Friday: i was able to teach elder Sterri 12 weeks training, which was weird cause i was just being taught that lke 3 weeks ago! rained and sun a lot again.  and then this day in my studies i realized something ive never realized before. in the bible where christ says he will make them fishers of men. i never knew what that ment, but i looked at the foot notes and it said missionary work and apostles. i liked that, we go and fish for men, we bring them in like fisherman. so that really caught my attention.

Saturday: We listened to the video Missionary work and the Atonement, which is super good, i encourage all of you to watch it. i was trying to find a good scripture on christ so i was looking, i felt inspired to lookin 2ne, so i flipped there and there was one phrase that was underlined. in 2 ne 20:4. it said and his hand is stretched out still. that was really powerful to me. whenever we mess up or sin, chrst is still reaching out to us! and that made me feel really good and comforted. we ended up talking with a bunch of drunk guys this day, cause they always see us on the street and like to talk to us, they try to tell us weird stuff about religion, theyre really crazy, and theyre literally everywhere!!

Sunday: none of our main investigators came to church. but we had some old investigators come, which was really good because we set up appointments with them and are gonna visit them sometime this week! church here is really weird, they always talk badly about how good the united states are. literally almost every chilean almost worships the us. then at lunch guess what we talked about, the u.s. again! they were talking about gringos and how they look so beautiful! with colored eye and blonde hair! haha. but people here always ask us about the u.s. and the elections, (which by the way how are the elections going?) i havent heard much about them. they always talk bad about trump because they think he said he hates all latinos. the media here is messed up. but back to my day... we had a really powerful lesson where we made our investigators cry, we showed them the missionary work with the atonement video, we felt prompted to show them so they can kind of understand us. they really are super good investigators.

Well that was my week, it was crazy! this weeks gonna be even more crazy! im excited!

Well everyone have a good week!!

Chile ~week 20

okay well see if i can do this email the computer keeps freezing on me!
well okay this was a good week,
its been raining and windy almost everyday, so im kinda getting used ot it.

well heres me week:

Tuesday: today was a sunny day, we were in the church for somereason, i dont remember, and some random guy came in and we gave him a tour, he seems pretty cool. i got a bunch of compliments on my spnishagain, the members said they can defienetly see the gift of tongues working with me which is awesome! we taught a lesson to the people ai first taught when i got here, and they remembered it!! they remembered what i said which made me pretty happy.

Wednesday: today was pretty cool, i was studying in the morning, and preyed for something that can change me. i flipped open and i saw one highlight. it was luke 1:37. and i needed to hear that at that time, so that was cool! we had a change of rules at zone conference. the mission president really trusts us, we can email at the same time, we have a bigger variety of music, we can drink mate in the house, and just a bunch of other stuff!

Thursday: today was a kind of normal day, but at the end of the day my comp bought me a pizza! he just likes to spend a lot of money, so always just buys stuff, which is pretty cool i guess, its okay with me.

Friday: we clenaned and prganized our house a bit, then that night my comp bought me french fries. hes a pretty cool comp.

Saturday: we had a Noche de Hogar (family home evening) and we were gonna show meet the mormons in spanish since i have it. but i found my disc and it was broken in half. luckily my comp had it on his flash drive! then the noche de hogar turned out great! it was a good experience! and the spirit was strong!!

Sunday: Today was a time change, so we had to wake up an hour early. and because of the time change not a lot of people came to church. barely any of our investigators came. then in the morning was really windy and rainy. which i dont write bout the weather much cause its kinda normal for wind and rain now...

Today: we went to lebu again this morning cause it was my zone leaders bday, so we played soccer and ate cake, then back here to Cañete!

well it was a good week!!

Have a good week everyone!

Elder Severtson!

Chile ~week 19

to start, i cant send poics this week cause i cant connect my camera, but i have some to send, of me and my new comp. hes from mississippi, and is pretty cool!!

well heres my week,

Monday: not much happened, pday. but it was funny, last week after i emailed and elder willey was emailing there was a kid in the hall that yelled HEY MOM LOOK!! 2 GRINGOS!!! hahaha it was pretty funny!

Tuesday: we had to wake up at 4:25 in the morning to make our bus to do transfers, and we barely made the bus... i got my new comp, Elder culotta. and we went and got back to cañete, i was a bit stressed about this, cause i was the only one who knew the area, ao it was all on me!! i was stressing out, but i managed okay.

Wednesday: we had district meeting, our dirstict it pretty cool, lots of good and funny missionaries. that night we talked to one of those really smart drunk guys again, he told us he was going to kill himself, so we shared with him, and gave him a book of mormon, and the other day we saw him still on the street, and he always yells hi to us now, but we got to try to talk to him again!!

thursday: we had weekly planning. for lunch a member made us chicken nuggets, its kind of weird but i miss chicken nuggets so much!! they were so good to eat!! hahah.. this day i realized that heavenly father has blessed me a lot and had been preparing me and still is preparing me for something big.. i had ot lead a lesson, and i saw the gift of tongues a lot, i could just speak and understand spanish without even trying, but it was kinda lame, cause when i realized that, it kinda started going away, so i stopped focusing on it!! haha

Friday: i saw the gift of tongues again! in like the same way! my spanish has grown immensely this week!! i dont even know how!! sometimes i accidently speak spanish! or if im speaking spanish sometimes english comes in!! haha, i led some more lessons, and we served a member family by moving a bunch of their wood for them.

Saturday: we talked with the primary to find who to visit, so we got a lot of people we can visit now, which is goo, and i was just talking withoug noticing... its crazy hopw many blessings ive recieved.. im so thankful! then also there was an elder who finished his mission like last week, and he never left, his family came here to pick him up, and he came to cañete so we saw him, it was super wierd!!

Sunday: we had church, that elder came to church and bore his testimony there!! it was crazy weird!! haha it was a crazy day! we had branch council, andf we ran around everywhere visiting! also in chile they celebrate a holiday thats pretty cool. its kids day, so we were at a house and gave us a bunch of food. they gave us this food that looks and feels like cheese balls, but theyre a fruity flavor!! so it kinda suprised me the first time i ate one!! haha

well it was a good week of miracles and blessing!!

have a good week everyone!! ill send pics next week!!

Chile ~week 18

Hey Everybody, This week was awesome! it was super crazy!!!

Tuesday:
I did an intercambio, again. i did it with elder runyan, it was cool because it was his last week as a missionary, so ive learbned a lot from him. we had district meeting this morning, and thats what all these pics are from. this night we had baptism interviews for benjamin and paula. and they both passed!! so we are going to have 2 baptisms on saturday! woohoo!!!

Wednesday:
we finished our intercambio, and finished making our invitations for the baptisms this weekend, and we found out that benjamin wants elder willey to baptism him, so we will be planning on that!

Thursday:
This morning we had weekly planning, and we were planning a lot for the baptism, i called some people to invite them, which is a big step for me, its hard to understand on the phone and i was able to call them! so that was super cool, the gift of tongues has really blessed me, lots of members and other missionaries always tell me that! apparently my spanish is way better than a normal missionary that finishes training! this day we started another intercambio, i went with elder Deus, he is from brazil, so he only knows words in english like yes, what, and i dont know.. hahaha.. it was hard on this intercambio because we didnt have a bunch of plans, andf i had to lead the sector, so we ended up walking a lot, but it was okay, and this morning it pooured super hard, i have a small video of it ill try to send.

Friday:
we finished the intercambio, and i recieved my package!!! finally, almost 2 months, we got to take the bus free from the intercambio, because one of our investigators was working on that bus, so that was pretty cool. we had some good lessons, but were about to get home late, we had 10 mins to walk up a huge hill then run a long ways home, that normally would take us like 20. but we got to the top of the hill andf started running, and we made it home right on time! it was super cool, we dont even know how we did it! we truly are blessed!

Saturday:
we had our baptism of benjamin and paula, it was super cool, and they were super happy. but it was a bit of a crazy experience. we got there a few hours early to fill the font, and the font was filling, and was warm. about 15 minutes before the baptiusm started, i went to check it, the water was all EMPTY!!! someone had turned off the drain! so we went and grabbed all the young men(were having an activity in the gym). and they started getting buckets filled with water to throw in the font. we finally got it filled in time to baptize. the water was suppeerrrr cold!! paula almost didnt want to get baptized because of how cold it was. but we convinced her, and then i ended up having to baptize her 2 times because her knee came up, haha it was crazy, and super cold. on our way home from the baptism these drunk guys stopped us in the street and were talking to us, they actually were pretty smart, probably the smartest drunk guys ive evr met(and trust me, ive met a lot). haha we also recieved our cambios this night, our new president is starting to do it this way, on saturdays, but ill add those in at the end!

Sunday:
we had church and the confirmations of benjamin and paula, elder willey was going to confirm benjamin, and i was going to confirm paula, but right before i was going to do it the elders quorum president stepped up and did it, which was kind of a relief, i was freaking out i was so nervous. it also poured again this night and we were soaked! like super wet, haha... and then also this night, i challenged some of our good investigators to be baptized, on the 20th of august, she said she will pray about it, so we know she is going to get baptized haha!

Today: this morning was sunny, so we were able to dry all our clothes out and everything!! thank goodness!!

Cambios/ transfers: Me: i will be staying in cañete, i will be getting a new companion named Elder Colluta or something like that, another gringo comp, which im excited about.
Elder Willey: he will be going to be a Zone Leader in the south, the very most south zone, so he will be leaving tomorrow morning.

Well thats my week for this week!
Everyone have a good week!!
