MTC ~week4

hola!!

This week was pretty good, sorry I don't have any pictures, we weren't allowed to have our cameras today, so its kind of sad... but its been a great week! Yesterday it rained like crazy!! Like a lot and super loud!! So it was pretty cool... I'm getting pretty close to leaving here which is kind of scary... I feel like I'm not ready!! But my Spanish is coming real quick! But I still know barely any! haha.. We got a bunch of new elders and hermanas here. So far I don't like them as much as the first group... but we got 9 new nortes, and its crazy! One of them is from Georgia who used to live in Arizona in Gilbert! He is also 18 years old and graduated early to come on a mission! But mostly this week is classes as usual, its kind of boring here sometimes cause classes, classes, and more classes. But my teachers are cool so its pretty sweet! A few days ago we were sitting outside and this guy rode by on a cart, like a shopping cart, which was super weird cause he was riding it like a scooter.. people here are pretty weird and crazy! Another new norte we got here is going to the regular Concepcion mission! We have another fake investigator, idk if I've said anything about them before, but this one is cool, they're all just teachers dressed up jajaj..  Its crazy hearing about all my friends at home getting their mission calls and about to graduate!! Its feeling super weird!! The food here is pretty good actually, its a lot different, but I like it, we literally have rice 2 out of 3 meals a day! its kind of annoying. Yesterday for breakfast we had pancakes. but before I got mine they ran out of forks, so I had to use a spoon... and let me tell you.. nothing is harder than eating a pancake with a spoon and a knife that isn't even sharp.. seriously though, my spoon was sharper than my knife. but I love it here. I have so many new friends that I've already made. But I think that's mostly it for the week! Everyone have a good week! Love you all!!

MTC ~week 3

WOOHOO!!

This week was awesome! Sorry about last week, the pictures didn't load so the email didn't send. This week was pretty sweet though, my Spanish is still coming along super fast! On Saturday we went proselyting around the MTC, and me and my companion got 8 or 9 referrals. In an hour, he likes to talk a lot so I didn't get to try out my Spanish. Today for pday we went to the temple in the morning, then came home and got in pday clothes and went to a big park in Bogota. We played ultimate Frisbee and then walked around. That's when a lot of people found out I haven't really graduated high school yet, they think its so crazy that I'm so young! Haha but the streets here are crazy the cars don't really stop for pedestrians so you've got to hurry. The traffic signs even have people running on them!! haha, Its pretty crazy here though, we hear sirens ans car alarms every night, one of my friends Elder Goodwin calls it Colombian crickets! haha, but the MTC here is honestly so cool, its kinda small but super cool! I'm having a great time, last night was sad, all the Latinos that were with us for 3 weeks left, they left early this morning, I got a lot of their emails so I can keep in touch. The president and his wife really liked them, normally they said the Americans and the Latinos don't get along very well, but not in this case, they were even sad to see them leave. But at least I'll be able to keep in touch!! The MTC here is pretty repetitive every day, classes classes classes. Its good though, everyone have a good week!!!

MTC ~week 2

Spanish is coming really fast! Last wee, sorry it didnt send. pics dont send good here

This week was a great week! every day is mostly the same, we study and have a lot of classes. But one of my favorite times of the days is gym time. we can play futbol or volleyball. I didn't realize how good i am at those. everyday I can tell how my Spanish is getting better and better. I can hold a conversation with the Latinos now, I cant understand much of what they say but I can still talk to them. It really is lots of fun here. There are some things I forgot to say about last week. I had to get a typhoid shot but the church payed for it so it wasn't a big deal. They have some really weird fruits here. One of them you crack open like an egg and it has like a white pocket. on the inside of the white pocket it looks like fish eggs that taste like grapes! haha! when I was playing volleyball a few days ago I pulled a muscle in my leg during warm ups. It was only bad for a few days but I'm mostly better now. The  mtc is in a kind of sketchy place in Colombia. There are car alarms and sirens going off every night. its kinda scary. The other night(Wednesday) there was a drive by! Super scary, I didn't hear it cause I was asleep, but the other elders says they heard screeching then a gunshot. We went to the temple again this morning and that's where a lot of my pictures are from. Last week we got a new district and district leaders. We lost Elder Rollins and Elder Tingey from our district and got Elder Goodwin and Elder Kilcollins. Elder Kilcollins is from Canada and is our district leader. but Elder Goodwin is so funny, hes probably one of my faavorite missionaries. Lots of the Latinos here are trying to learn English. Some of them know quite a bit but aren't that good at it. So every night we say nightly prayers, every other night me or my companion will pray in.

MTC ~week 1

so once i left the airport i found my terminal if thts what its called. but there was one sister missionary from mesa. she isgoing to england, so when we landed in atlanta she had to book it to her next flight, but told me how toget to mine cause i had no idea where i was going. after like an hour of walkingin the airport i decided to take the trains andfound my terminal shortly after that. another missionary came up to me, his name is elder james. we talked a bit then tried to find a phone, apparently airports dont have pay phones anymore. we found more missionaries and there was 12 of us on thesame flight. i sat next to a guy who got a job for the colombian basketball team. he was pretty cool, once we got off the flight i realized how much spanihs i dont know, i couldnt understand anybody. once all us missionaries gotour stuff we headed out and found the cmm people(mtc in colombia). we had to load up the van with our suitcases drove for a bit to the cmm. we got there at about midnight, the president talked to us for a bit then we were allowed to go ot bed. i share a room with 4 latinos and my companion. my companion is elder escobar. hes kinda short andhas glasses, hes from utah, and is going to uruguay. he knows a little spanihs from duolingo. in the morning when we all woke up the latinos were trying to talk to meand i understood noting at all!! that day we learned some spanish and some missionary skills. by that night i could talk to the latinos a little bit. 2 more missionaries came midnight when we were asleep, one from canada going tochile and one from utah? going to ecuador. in all the nortes (north americans) thereare 8 of us going to chile, one sister in my mission. we were all going todifferent MTCs but some didnt have room so they sent us all here. most days were the same, we have rice with every meal, hot chocolate for breakfast, and classes. we startedteaching fake investigtors. there are 60 misionaries total here and 14 arent latino. so we have lots of opprutunities to learn spanish, now i can talk to them and understand a lot of what they were saying. we even started teaching some of them english haha. the latinos are super nice, and elpful, and funny. they always haelp with our bad spanish. the weather here is awesome, it rains a few times a day, and the weather is nice. the sun always sets and rises around 6am and 6 pmcause its on the equater. we went to the temple this morning and it was super cool. oh yeah, i forgot, a bunch of us got sick, i was sick for 2 dys, and my companion was sick yesterday. other missionaries got sick, i blame the fod, it supposed to e american, but its colombianized. everything here is american, they have american outlets even. on the way to the temple this morning the traffic was crazy, people are super crazy drivers and im glad that im not driving here. well that basically sums up my week, sorry for any errors, these keyboard are hard to type on and it sys everyword i type is wrong cause its not in spanish haha. well have a good week!!

o and i forgot to say how much latinos love americans, they all hug us and smile and always like tosit by us and talk to us. theyre super cool, im gonna love this, half of the latinos are from venezuela, one is from my mission, and others from colombia and other south places, well my hour is about up! got to go! have a wonderful week!

i will send more pictures next week, the ones at the airport are the elders i met there. and the others are my district and an example of how funny/cool the latinos are.
